Self Confidence

In the beginning of this year I started meditating upon the real meaning of life and the stages I have undergone before achieving my ultimate goals. It hit me that life comes in stages and different ways. What people don’t know is that success is more of a journey than an event and it unfolds in various stages. An important weapon on ones journey to success is the public speaking ability. Your tongue will take you places where your brain will never give you access. This wisdom I got it from Pepe Minambo, a great motivational speaker. Recently I met a very successful man, Mr. Oduor, who had a master’s certificate to his name but lacked a job. He seemed to be an introvert which contributed to his joblessness. Why? This is because in the modern world a lot of wrong people have the right jobs simply because the right people like Mr Oduor. lacked the ability to speak well and convince the interviewers that they were suitable for the job. Sadly some people who lacked the acumen had better eloquence to convince the interviewers that they were suitable for the job.
An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep. I know it sounds impossible but funnily it’s the truth. In a nut shell ability is not final and lack of skill is not fatal but what matters is how one is able to present himself in the victor way. The first army was made of sheep are generally sly and timid animals. But their leader was a lion, the king of the jungle and the most confident animal. In the second army, the sly animal was the leader of the pack.
The lion knows how to express itself and it’s a master of its game. The lion is not the biggest animal, the elephant is, it’s not the strongest animal, the buffalo is, it’s not the fastest animal, the cheetah is and it’s not the tallest animal the giraffe is. Then how come the lion is the king of the jungle? What makes the lion rule over animals bigger, taller, stronger and faster than it? All this is because of its self-confidence, attitude and its self expression.
Because of the lion’s self confidence and self expression, the sheep behind it are inspired to fight hard and hold their positions. In the other army, the leader is not able to express itself and inspire self confidence, which will obviously lead to defeat.
In conclusion I would like to challenge each one of you to polish your self-confidence skills and the most important of all is public speaking. Do not slow down in your quest to achieve what you never thought possible because everyone has the power to prevail no matter the obstacles. Like the Johnny Walker advert states, just keep walking.
