The Bus Preacher

This Nairobi struggle has pushed many to the edge and people are now looking for ways to make quick money. Preaching to passengers in bucks is one of the new ways to make money. The ‘buck preaching department work’ is not an easy task. A buck preacher gets into a buck knowing too well of what the passengers think of him, a conman who wants to fish out some coins with a well constructed sermon. In most cases, a preacher carries a bible and a notebook which they hardly use it because they have no pen. A preacher must do anything to convince the already switched off minds corrupted with the fact that he is a conman.
What can you preach to over 50 passengers in a buck with different things going on in their minds at that time?? There is a woman who is thinking of what to do after finding out that her husband has been cheating on her with her friend, a man thinking of what his family is going to eat after spending all his money at the bar, a young woman complaining why she doesn’t have any likes on her recently posted photo on Instagram or a young man thinking on what he should write to his ever growing audience.
A good preacher therefore has to survey his congregation before choosing a sermon. If there are more men, the sermon will be surrounding the struggles in life and how to overcome these shortfalls in life. If there are more women, the sermon will be meandering around their emotions so that they can feel the word and give out something small.
The most difficult part is to muster some courage and tell the congregation that the time to give ‘something to the Lord’ has come.
